Why am I not getting staking rewards for DOT?

Polkadot blockchain applies a Nominated Proof of Stake (NPoS) mechanism. It periodically nominates credited stakers for staking rewards. Under this mechanism, there is no guarantee for nomination even if stakers have staked over the minimum required amount.

Even though the "Minimum Threshold" for staking reward is set at 10 DOT, for now, only those who stake over approximately 155 DOT will be successfully nominated (eligible for staking rewards). This minimum nominated amount fluctuates and is determined by a demand-supply mechanism. You can check the link here to get real-time data on the minimum nominated amount.

As the Polkadot ecosystem adopts special NPoS staking system, a possibility still exists that stakers (nominators) may not be able to continuously receive staking rewards even if they stake their DOT above/below the minimum nominated amount. To increase the nominating chances, staking more DOT into your existing position is the only way. You may do so by using the "Bond-Extra" feature, which you can find on the staking page.
